Complete pre-enrolment formWithin this course, you will complete four units.
The four units are:
- Understand the principles of leadership and management
- The principles of people and team management
- The principles of business
- Managing personal and professional development
Within this module, you will gain an understanding of what leadership and management mean, the role, functions and processes of management, and the principles of effective decision making. You will be able to explain the importance of aligning decisions with business objectives, values and policies, and understand how to delegate successfully within a team.
Upon completing this module, you will understand team building and dynamics, how to outline business processes, and the importance of recruitment, training, induction, and disciplinary processes. You will learn how to manage communications within a team and the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion, as well as be able to identify characteristics of an effective performance management system and understand how to manage conflicts.
Within this module, you will be able to define and understand business innovation and growth, the importance of quality management within a team, understand financial management, and outline the types of things a manager would be responsible for, including policies, procedures, and health and safety. You will understand sustainability and environmental issues within an organisation, and understand sales and marketing.
Throughout this module, you will identify what personal development and professional development are. You will learn how to identify the strengths, competencies and expertise of team members, and how to identify areas for improvement in team members’ performance outputs and standards. You will also learn how to maintain the relevance of a personal and professional development plan, understand how to fulfil a personal and professional development plan, and explain how to give feedback, reward, and recognition.
Skills Bootcamps are for:
- Adults residing in the Lancashire region
- Adults aged 19 or over as of the 31st August 2024
- Adults who are employed and looking to move into a new sector and start an entry-level management or team leadership role
- Adults who are employed and have their employer's co-funding support to progress within the company
- Learners who are self-employed and looking to grow their business
- Learners who are recently unemployed (for less than 12 months) or returning to work after a break and are looking to get started with an entry-level management or team leadership job in a new sector
- Learners who are looking to build upon a Skills Bootcamp by moving onto an apprenticeship in their chosen topic
- Learners who are not currently undertaking any formal education, including another Skills Bootcamp
- Learners who have not studied a Skills Bootcamp in the current funding year
- Learners who have a reliable internet connection, a laptop or computer with a camera and microphone and access to Microsoft Office
- Adults who are able to commit to and attend 100% of live sessions as per the course requirements they are choosing to enrol on
Please note, although our Skills Bootcamps are completed entirely online, due to the way Skills Bootcamps are funded, you can only complete a course that is available in the area that you currently reside in.
Skills Bootcamps are fully funded (that means free) for…
- Unemployed people (for less than 12 months)
- Employed people looking for a career change*
- Self-employed people who are looking to grow their business
- Employers recruiting an individual who has completed a Skills Bootcamp
*Large employers looking to upskill their current staff will contribute 30% of the cost for their staff members' upskilling. *Small or medium employers (SMEs) will contribute 10% for their staff members upskilling.
12 weeks
You must complete 5 hours of mandatory live learning each week:
- 5 hours of live learning sessions led by your expert tutor
Once you are verified as being eligible for the Skills Bootcamp, you can choose from the below range of days and times to attend your live learning sessions:
Weekday sessions:
Tuesday 9am – 2pm
Weekend sessions:
Saturdays – 9am – 2pm
Evening sessions:
Tuesday & Wednesday 7pm – 9pm
Thursday 7pm – 8pm
*Please note your chosen day and time will occur every week for the full 12-week programme
Because our Skills Bootcamps are of Level 3 standard in England, you will be expected to have some existing knowledge and skills within the subject area or job role that you are applying for.
You must also have:
- A familiarity with applied use of Microsoft Office Suite of programmes
- Basic functional skills ability including Maths and English
